THE VISION
Split shatters the illusion of timekeeping, stripping it to its unfiltered truth. Unapologetic and resilient, Split doesn’t elevate egos. In a world obsessed with appearances, Split speaks the new language of luxury: one rooted not in status, but in meaning. Where objects are not designed to impress, but to resonate. Where value is defined by depth, not display.
At the core of Split is music, honest conversations around mental health and the shared experiences that shape us. These aren’t references these are our foundation. The spirit of togetherness runs through everything we do, because we believe the most powerful moments come from genuine human connection.
From the beginning, we wanted to make a watch that questioned what a watch means in the modern world. We could have followed convention, Swiss movements, and traditional materials like stainless steel, simply because that is what luxury is expected to look like, but that was never who we were. We were drawn instead to the passion and soul of Japan, a culture that creates with intention and beauty rather than spectacle.
Every decision behind Split was made to serve the modern watch wearer, from the Japanese movement and exhibition case back to show the inner beauty to the Ceramod plus case and the FKM strap.
Surrounded constantly by phones, notifications, and screens, we are more digitally connected than ever, Split exists as a reminder that we need to disconnect to truly connect with ourselves and with the people around us.
This is not about tradition for tradition’s sake. It is about creating modern watches with modern materials for people who see watches not as status symbols but as shared perspectives, and shared experience.
THE FOUNDERS
Ed, founder of Split, knows the watch world inside out. An industry built to measure time, yet often out of touch with it.
He trained at the Longines factory in the early '90s, followed by time at the Vacheron Constantin manufacturer in Switzerland. Ed went on to become brand manager and oversee the distribution of Blancpain, Audemars Piguet, Hublot, Vacheron Constantin, and Girard Perregaux in the UK.
But Ed wanted to build something different. Something honest. A watch with grit, soul and purpose, rooted in craft but not bound by tradition.
He always admired the bi-compax chronograph for its clarity and quiet confidence. And Seiko, especially their early two-register automatic chronographs, for their bold, substance-first innovation. That spirit stuck with him.
Like many, Ed has faced his own struggles with mental health. That experience became part of the drive to create something more meaningful.
So he called a friend. Dara, a musician turned consultant, shared the same instinct that what you make should be raw, real and grounded in truth.
Together they built Split. A brand born to challenge the norm. From design to materials, everything had to reflect a new mindset: lighter, tougher, more forward thinking than the stainless steel status quo.
A brand forged by experience, built to connect and made to mean something.
